This is a 'By Invitation Only'  Master Workshop for selected Executives who are close partners with SMU.

This Master Class aims to educate Senior-Level Executives about the full trends, opportunities and risks of the Consumer Data Revolution, now unfolding as a result of Web 2.0, social networks, with advances in data mining and business intelligence. The workshop is conducted by Dr Andreas Weigend, the former Chief Scientist of Amazon.com, now teaching at Stanford and consulting to leading international organizations defining best practice in this new Consumer Data Revolution. His clients include Alibaba, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, Lufthansa, MySpace, Nokia, Volkswagen, Yahoo, and The World Economic Forum.

The Topic

Technology affords companies unprecedented opportunities to interact with customers and employees. In any of these interactions, data is created. Yet most firms neither capture nor fully utilize those data to impact their bottom line and strengthen relationships with their customers. This half- day interactive, dynamic and entertaining workshop will provide insightful examples which illustrate best practices and key concepts for capturing and using customer data. Andreas will highlight the role top management must play in order for their companies to systematically capture and use customer data in ways that can significantly enhance their company's customer satisfaction and profitability. He will provide senior level guidance on how to put a well crafted corporate data strategy in place, along with the processes and technology required to execute successfully.

The Speaker

A passionate and energetic presenter, Andreas is a leading thinker, scientist, practitioner and educator focusing on consumer behaviour and data strategy. As Chief Scientist of Amazon.com, he oversaw the development of an extensive customer information system that powers Amazon's recommendation engine and informs Amazon's corporate decision making. He now consults to the world's largest firms and most innovative startups, sharing relevant perspectives on people and the data they create.

Andreas is widely regarded as a master teacher. His current courses on "Marketing in Web 2.0" at UC Berkeley, and on "Data Mining and Electronic Business" at Stanford University are enormously popular. Previously, Andreas was an associate professor at New York University's Stern School of Business. He lives in San Francisco, Shanghai, and on www.weigend.com.
