Synopsis

The dynamism of IT industry is driven by innovation. Innovation stems from the passion to explore new grounds, driven by a fundamental courage of the mind to seek challenges constantly. To be a leader in the market while keeping up with innovation, it is important that the various elements of the IT ecosystem are prepared to evolve; businesses will need to transform with new demands; customers will need to be assured in adopting new technologies; IT professionals will need to have the mental stamina to update their knowledge and update their skills incessantly.

An avid driver of business innovation, Alvin will share his views on the importance of having the courage to change business models and stories on successful business and mindset transformations.

About the Speaker

Alvin KOK joined Singapore Computer Systems (SCS) as Executive Vice-President, International, on 03 May 2004 from Baan Asia Pacific where he held the position of Vice-President and Managing Director, Asia Pacific. Alvin has 27 years of experience in the IT industry. His experience spans from software development and implementation, consulting, sales and marketing to management of business operations. He has been involved actively in developing markets for large U.S. and European Multi-National Software Companies in many Asia Pacific countries; including Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Hong Kong, Korea, India, China and Taiwan. He was the first Asian to be appointed Corporation Vice-President, Asia Pacific for JD Edwards & Company, a US $1 Billion Company listed in NASDAQ. During his career, he serviced both international and national customers in these countries.

His career portfolio gave him a strong foundation in understanding the challenges of all aspects of business solutioning; including Technical, Pre-sales, Project Management, Response Centre, Customer Training and Sales. In his various management positions, he was responsible for setting the strategic direction for revenue growth as well as profitability.
