Abstract

The Automated Teller Machine (ATM) channel was developed to present an alternative access point for cash withdrawals and other banking transactions. It offers the bank customer additional value that characteristically had not been part of the branch network. The machines were available for longer hours than the branch was open, often 24 hours a day. Many banks placed machines outside the branch, in more convenient locations, offering the customer more choices for access to cash.

This talk outlines the design and implementation of an ATM solution and describes the architecture, messaging and security components of the system.
