The minimum entry requirement for admission into the PhD programme is a Bachelor degree with good honors, or a Master degree, in a relevant discipline. Candidates should be keen to pursue research at the intersection of IT and business.
- Good TOEFL scores: Applicants whose medium of instruction for their Bachelor degree is not in English will be required to submit TOEFL (international test) scores.
- Good GRE scores: Except for special approval granted by SMU, all applicants are required to take GRE or GMAT. SMU's GRE institution code is 2861. Test taken within 5 years will be accepted.
- Good GMAT scores: Students who are interested to pursue in the area of Information Systems & Management (ISM), may choose to substitute the GRE scores with GMAT scores.
Our Programme's code is: F8D-Z4-04. Test taken within 5 years will be accepted.
- References: Each application must be supported by recommendations from two academic referees.

Foreign students can qualify for subsidized tuition fee by signing an agreement with the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) to work for three years in Singapore-based companies after graduation. The details on this service scheme are published on the website of MOE. |
| Scholarships and Financial Aid |
The University awards scholarships and research/teaching assistantships to full-time Master by Research and PhD students on a competitive basis. These awards provide waiver of the registration fee, subsidized tuition, as well as monthly living stipends. Students are assessed for different award schemes at the time of admission, based on their qualifications and suitability for the schemes.
