Project Type: Industrial Attachment

Project Title: Web Development and Support

Background:
Student attached to Lucasfilm Animation Singapore will allow the students to gain professional work experience in the area of Software Engineering and Information Technology.

Objectives:
During the attachment students will be part of the Software Engineering/IT team and earn from industry professionals through trial and exposure how to develop and integrate support systems such as production tools and utilities as well as intranet related applications.

Functionalities:

• Support Software development team in web development.
• Role may include general technical support in additional technology focused areas such as R&D and IT.

End Products:
Expected outcome of the students that are part of the Industrial Attachment program will include:

• Use creative problem-solving to explore non-traditional solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  
• Work extensively with all parties involved in the Production Community in order to determine their needs regarding the analysis of current systems, modifications and integrations with existing applications, and development of new projects.
  
• Work with production staff to design, implement, and refine GUI front-ends for data entry and generated reports.
  
• Provide application support to user community and operations.

The requirements will be good understanding and knowledge of computer operating systems such as Linux, Windows 9x, NT, 2000 and XP desktop support work and the ability to write simple scripts. Good interpersonal and communication skills with a high learning capability and ability to execute instructions in a professional manner. Pro-activeness and willingness to learn are also key criteria.

Special Knowledge:
Graphical design skill would be an asset

Hardware & Software provided:
High-end work stations will available for the student's use during the Internship

Qualifications:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Outstanding self motivational skills
• Ability to interact well with diverse personalities
• Must be responsive to deadlines and work well under pressure
• Experience with CMM (content management systems)
• Experience with wiki platforms such as MediaWiki
• Good knowledge with web and database development
• Strong database knowledge of SQL Server
• Ability to create Web pages and sites using Ajax, Javascript, Java, HTML, VB, .Net, etc.
