Lab Exercises
Lab assignment 1: Globus Mini-Lab
Purpose: To get hands-on experience with Globus Toolkit 4
Technical setup: GT4 on Linux (3 workstations: 1 CA, 2 grid nodes)
Task: Installation of GT4. Set up CA on CA node. Set up security on each grid node. Configuration & testing of GridFTP, RFT & WS GRAM.
Lab assignment 2: Oracle Grid Lab
Purpose: To understand Oracle's grid offer & get hands-on experience with Oracle's RAC and Application Server grids with Oracle Grid Control.
Technical setup: Oracle DBMS RACed up on 2 blade servers, & connected to a shared storage. Oracle Application server on 2 blader servers. Oracle Grid Control on a 5th blade server.
Task: To view & manage the application servers & database RAC using the Grid Control Web user interface.
Group assignment: Case Study & Discussion
Purpose: To thoroughly study the issues in a business scenario & to come up with a proposed solution employing grid technologies as a team.
