The wide range of Business and IT roles for SIS graduates

Graduates of the programme will start off in job roles such as management associate, business analysts, technology analysts, operations analyst, consultant, manager, or software engineer. Our students are finding these types of  jobs across a very wide range of industries that span across the entire economy.  These jobs pay well. They provide you with  both a broad and deep exposure to how the entire enterprise or organisation functions, and therefore provide an excellent foundation for career growth and advancement. Equally  important, these types of starting jobs provide you with multiple pathways for career growth and advancement. Keep reminding yourself, "The BSc (ISM) degree with a second major provides me with EXPANDED career opportunities!"

Over time, our graduates will transition into senior management and executive roles. Some of our graduates will become so knowledgeable about the business processes they helped design and implement that they will get "recruited" (or perhaps captured)  by the business side of the organisation.  They will rise up the ranks and  become  senior managers or executives in one of the core business areas,  especially in business functions that are critically dependent on IT enablement.

Others will continue to work at the interface of technology and business, and will eventually become senior managers or executives in  the technology and operations functions of the enterprise.  They will oversee and manage very large budgets for technology development, process change, and operations support. They will also oversee a wide range of projects and teams spanning across the globe.

And we forgot to mention,  more than a few of our  graduates will  end up as entrepreneurs who create their own businesses through  innovative ways of using  IT to do existing things better, or by creating new types of  services and business value. Take a look at some of our entrepreneuring students here. For whatever reason, SIS attracts a lot of entrepreneurial students. We have the highest density of entrepreneurs (entrepreneuring students / school student size) across SMU.
