| Programme Overview
The School of Information Systems (SIS) Fast Track programme allows promising SIS undergraduates to pursue a Bachelor and Master degrees within a shorter period of time. In addition to the Bachelor of Science (Information Systems Management), selected SIS undergraduates can obtain the Master of IT in Business (Financial Services).
This Master degree aims to train technology and operations professionals for assuming IT leadership positions in the Financial Services sector. It will equip the students with financial industry knowledge and skills related to:
• Business processes
• IT applications and solutions
• Management of technology investment, people, projects and vendors
• Understanding the linkages between technology, people, processes and
business outcomes
The curriculum of the Master programme consists of 11 courses and a capstone project equivalent to 2 courses, delivered over 6 terms (3 terms per year). The courses are:
1. General Management – 3 courses
1.1 Accounting for Managers
1.2 Business Management
1.3 Finance
2. IT and Process Management – 4 courses
2.1 IT Governance and Innovation Management
2.2 Spreadsheet Modeling for Business Decisions
2.3 IT Project and Vendor Management
2.4 Global Sourcing Management
3. Banking Processes, Solutions & Technology – 4 courses
3.1 Banking Products and Processes
3.2 Retail Banking Solutions & Architecture
3.3 Wholesale Banking Solutions & Architecture
3.4 FSI Trends and Drivers
4. Project
2 courses will be offered per term and classes will be conducted on weekday evenings and Saturdays. Successful applicant can typically begin their Master programme courses concurrently with their undergraduate courses in their third or fourth year. Total Fast Track programme duration is expected to be 4.5 to 5 years.
Several exemptions and double-counting of courses are possible.
• Exemption* for up to 3 General Management courses is possible subjected
to the approval of the Programme Director and course instructor.
• Double counting** of courses 2.1, 2.3 and 2.4 as undergraduate IS
Management Elective for up to 2 courses.
• Double counting of course 2.2 as Business Oriented course, IS102
Computer as an Analysis Tool.
All outstanding SIS undergraduates will be invited to apply for this Fast Track programme. Selection is based on the first year undergraduate results.
