IS304 – Process Modelling and Solutions Blueprinting
“ PMSB is all about coming up with feasible solutions for addressing business problems and to improve processes within an organisation. However, to choose the one solution that works best for an organisation is no easy feat.
My greatest take-away from PMSB can be described in two sentences:
It is not about building the best IT solution architecture in the world for the company.
It is all about building the IT solution architecture that works best for the company.”
— TAY Wen Bin, BSc (IS Management) 2010 entry batch

IS301 – Enterprise Integration
“ Enterprise Integration to me is the introduction of the concept of integration between applications within an organisation as well as between organisations. It provides us with an additional perspective on the information systems within the business industry, especially on the point of collaboration between resources. EI is creating the solution to enable the applications to communicate with each other to enable business collaboration. ”
— Alex CHNG Keng Cheng, BSc (IS Management) 2008 entry batch
2nd Major in Operations Management

IS305 – Enterprise Web Solutions
“ In EWS we explore how organisations strategically plan their implementation road map for their web portal architectures, whilst satisfying overall business needs, overcoming technical challenges, and taking scalability into consideration.”
— Ashley SHEN Jiawei, BSc (IS Management) 2009 entry batch
2nd Major in Advanced Business Technology without Track
IS303 – Architectural Analysis
“ It focuses on the iterative process of design and analysis through which business requirements and solution elements are transformed into implementable architectural descriptions. The course prepares students to participate effectively in all stages of a software-intensive IT system, from conception and development to deployments, and evolution from the non-functional requirements point of view. ”
— CHEN Qinghe, BSc (IS Management) 2009 entry batch
2nd Major in Advanced Business Technology without Track
IS306 – Interaction Design and Prototyping
“ Interaction Design and Prototyping are important concepts and processes that cannot be overlooked while building an application. It focuses on the human-computer interaction which is crucial in producing interfaces with high usability or user-friendliness. Why is this so important? With a user-friendly interface, users can complete a task efficiently and easily. ”
— TANG Hui Min, BSc (IS Management) 2009 entry batch
2nd Major in Advanced Business Technology without Track
“ Simply put, at SIS, we learn to learn. It is very similar to the saying of “Give a man a fish, and he will last for a day. Teach a man to fish to fish, and it will last him for a life time”.
At SIS, you gain knowledge of IT in a business setting, but the most important values that you acquire from SIS are to be self-sufficient, self-reliant, and self-motivated to want to learn more and be the best at what you do. ”
Jaryll TJIOE Hongfei, BSc (IS Management) 2010 entry batch

We place great emphasis on developing our students' ability to move ideas from concept to execution. Our BSc (IS Management) students have a reputation amongst their SMU peers and across industry employers as being able to get things done. People across SMU and across the World of Business rely on SIS students to make things happen and to drive change initiatives.
Projects form a large component of an SIS student's life. Most projects are done in groups so they learn how to work effectively in a team. These projects give students the opportunity to analyse and solve real business problems as well as build a solid foundation in IT and project management skills.
