"SMU SIS graduates have contributed to SingTel's eBusiness team success on complex projects like SingTel.com and Enterprise Portal.
They've distinguished themselves since they are fast learners and strong team players. The SMU SIS programme shapes young men and women who are ready to collaborate from day one, and that is a strong plus for employers.
Another benefit is that the network of SMU SIS alumni is so strong in Singapore that in most companies' new SMU SIS graduates learn the culture of the company fast."

"As an employer we look for candidates with the skill sets of business domain knowledge, very good technical skills and very strong project management skills ,in addition to good soft skills.
A distinctive feature of the SIS Programme at SMU is this dual emphasis on both the technical side and the business side of the education and it also has very strong emphasis on IT project management.
In bridging the gap between the theory and the practical, SIS has partnered with key industry leader s in planning the Programme to ensure it stays relevant to the industry in educating the students. I find SIS students very confident and their strong articulation ability holds them very well in interviews.
I think it's this SIS cross disciplinary training and the broad based educational experience that the students have during their course of study that gives them with a very good head start both in the interviews and in the employment opportunities in the industry and I think it will help them transition well into the workplace.
UOB is pleased to be the leading employer for this pioneer batch of BSc (ISM) graduates who have joined us in UOB in 2006."

"I've recently interviewed a batch of students from SMU and I must say I was very impressed with the students because they didn't come across as they only knew IT, but they knew beyond IT which is the business aspects of an organisation.
And I think that SMU doing that really gives the students an edge because these days, nobody is going to go into IT knowing only IT. It is very important that they understand organisational behaviour, accountancy and marketing. So the students that came also had good communications skills, and it was very interesting interviewing them because they weren't just giving me one line answers when I asked them one line questions.
In fact a very interesting thing happened when I was interviewing one of the guys who came for interview, I asked him, "What's your 5 year ambition?" He said, "I want to be a pilot." and I said, "Really; but you're interviewing for an IT job." But seeing his passion to want to fly, which is his dream, I actually took him right across to our flight operations division and got him an interview right away with one of our Chief Captains and he actually cleared that first round interview, and I think now he's going on to the second round interview and hopefully he'll be taking off one day in the cockpit.
So in SIA we are able to offer a very diverse set of business and job opportunities for students who might even see beyond IT. So I think SMU offering a set of courses beyond IT, giving them the exposure and diversity certainly is very beneficial to an organisation like ours, that has such a wide range of business sets and also for the students to be able to take advantage of the different opportunities that will be available to them. I think SMU is definitely doing the right thing and I'm delighted to be interviewing more SMU students."

"SMU SIS has consistently produced students who are well balanced, passionate about what they do, and keen learners with both strong interpersonal skills and strong technology application skills.
The SIS students at SMU are notable for their "can do" attitude, and their hunger to explore and discover new possibilities at work that takes advantage of the synergy between IT and Business. This adds real value to the workforce."

"I have seen nothing but a totally positive attitude from our SMU SIS graduates!
We have such fast paced, varied work and tasks that present a completely new challenge each day, so it's the initiative to get things done and the confidence to deliver great quality work that makes it an absolute pleasure having such talent on my team!"
