Information Systems Second Major Options

Advanced Business Solutions

“Business Solutions” are the software applications that enable all of the functional areas of business. These solutions incorporate the essential logic of how management uses information to make decisions. These solutions create and manage the data that results from any type of business interaction or transaction. These solutions also define and manage the business processes that serve as the company's "central nervous system". Business Solutions also are key to information sharing and management across the company, and between the company and its partners. One cannot fully understand how a business functions without understanding the role of the key business solutions used within the company.

In recognition of the vital roles played by the Business Solutions in managing an enterprise, SIS has launched a new second major option, Advanced Business Solutions. Through this second major, students are able to work with a number of new generation solutions that perform various types of business critical functions. In using these solutions, students are also exposed to business processes and problem solving in specific functional and industry domains. Students who understand how these solutions work, the business context in which they are used, and how to deploy and leverage them to improve business performance, will have a strong employment related advantage.

The Advanced Business Solutions (ABS) Second Major can be done in the following ways:

- ABS without Specialisation
- Banking Processes & Solutions Specialisation
- Business Intelligence & Analytics Specialisation
- Service Systems & Solutions Specialisation

An overview of the Options are shown below:
