Overview

The Knowledge Discovery Systems Lab's (KDSL) purpose and mission are the following:

  1. To conduct cutting-edge research in knowledge discovery on structured and unstructured data so as to create innovative tools, and systems for next generation IT applications.

  2. To provide the data repositories, data management, software application environments, and computing resources for demonstrating and evaluating new knowledge discovery ideas, techniques and systems.

  3. To demonstrate how new ideas, techniques and systems for knowledge discovery can be applied to various types of problems faced by users.

  4. To foster research collaboration with relevant units in other universities and with interested industry and government organisations

    • To identify important knowledge discovery challenges and problems
    • To keep abreast of state-of-the-art research methods and tools, as well as to keep abreast of industry best-practices
    • To facilitate knowledge transfer
