Education & Practice Track Faculty Openings in the area of Data Analytics & Business Intelligence
Candidate requirements are as follows:

Extensive hands-on experience with designing, implementing and using data analytics and/or business intelligence solutions using leading commercial off-the-shelf enterprise software packages.

For example, using software packages such as SAS (including Enterprise Miner), IBM Business Analytics, SPSS, Oracle Business Intelligence, SAP Business Intelligence, etc.

Also, experience with the large-scale data management tools required for analytics and BI applications.

Deep experience with integrating data analytics solutions and enterprise information systems.

For example, integrating Analytics/BI capabilities with enterprise systems such as ERP, ERM, CRM, SCM, EIM, or other types of enterprise applications involving large-scale data bases.

Familiarity with state-of-the-art and emerging “next practice” trends in Data Analytics & Business Intelligence.

For example, familiarity with the fusion of numeric and text data, or more generally, with the fusion of structured and unstructured data; increasingly real-time and on-line applications of analytics; working with continuous input streams of data; using machine learning for ongoing updating of assumptions, models and parameters, etc.

To be considered for an Assistant or Associate Professor position in the Education or Practice track, a PhD in a closely related discipline from a well recognized university is required.

For example, a PhD in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Statistics, Management Science, Marketing Analytics, Computational Physics, Computational Engineering or Science, and the like.

- A passion for learning and teaching
Prior experience with consulting, training, or teaching is a strong advantage.

About SMU

About the SMU School of Information Systems
The School of Information Systems has a Ph.D. in Information Systems programme, with Technology tracks, as well as an Information Systems & Management track. The School offers a Master of IT in Business (MITB), a professionally oriented masters-by-coursework programme. There is an MITB (Financial Services) track focusing on the integration of Technology & Operations in Banking. There is also an MITB (Service Sector Analytics) track focusing on using increasingly real-time analytics to improve customer understanding, operational performance, and agility in service industry that are strategically important to Singapore. Our undergraduate programme, BSc (Information Systems Management), has over 900 students and has been highly successful with job placements.
SMU SIS-Carnegie Mellon Partnership
Since its founding in 2003, SMU SIS has had close working ties with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). CMU faculty members have actively participated in SMU SIS faculty selection and mentoring, and in the design of the SIS academic programmes.
As of 2010, the SMU SIS-Carnegie Mellon Partnership has refocused around the Living Analytics initiative. |
