About the Speakers
Mr Simon DALE
 |
Mr Dale is a Vice President of Business Development and Chief Technology Officer at SAP Asia-Pacific, a member of the regional management team, and responsible for supporting the regional business development activities for SAP's strategic Application and Integration Platform, SAP NetWeaver, the upcoming Business Process Platform, SAP's Enterprise Services based composite applications, xApps, SAP Analytics, and ISV partners. Based in SAP's Singapore headquarters, Simon has worked extensively in all major Asia-Pacific countries for the past five years.
Mr Dale had worked at TopTier Software for three years prior to its

acquisition by SAP, where he was Senior Director Worldwide Pre-Sales, responsible for the quality, content and procedures of the technical presentations and demonstrations of TopTier Software's Portal products and technology carried out by sales engineers in both Europe and North America
Mr Dale has worked in the computer software industry since leaving university with a BSc in Computing Science from Staffordshire University, UK 18 years ago. He has previously had extensive experience of European pre-sales for the CASE tool providers Dynasty Technologies and SEER Technologies, prior to which he developed client/server and mainframe systems at major UK Blue Chip companies - Guardian Royal Exchange, GEC and Goodyear Tyres.
His interests include golf, travel, and training for and participating in sprint triathlons.
Mrs Pearleen CHAN

Mrs Chan started her IT career in the Ministry of Finance developing systems for the Government Ministries and Departments. When NCB was formed in 1981, she took on the responsibility of planning for and implementing the Civil Service Computerization Program (CSCP) across 16 Ministries and Departments, a multi Million Dollar initiative by the Government to increase productivity and efficiency in the Civil Service and to improve services to the public.
After building the IT capability in the Civil Service for 8 years, she left her position as the Deputy General Manager of NCB to start up a new company

as the Managing Director to pioneer the use of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) to facilitate trade in Singapore. The company, Singapore Network Services was set up in 1989 and launched the successful multi-agency initiative, TradeNet in 1990. The use of EDI was extended by the company successfully into the medical, legal and manufacturing sectors, and was expanded globally to services operated by SNS joint venture companies in 6 countries.
Mrs Chan joined the OCBC bank in 1999 to set up its B2B E-Banking Service for small and medium enterprises and to launch the supporting B2B electronic commerce service through a joint venture with Singapore Computer Systems. During this period, she was concurrently the GM of Finixis at the Bank of Singapore, a wholly owned subsidiary of OCBC Bank, and MD of TX123, the joint venture company of OCBC and SCS.
After a short consultancy assignment in Australia with Optus to consolidate their IT investments in a cost cutting initiative, Mrs Chan joined Singapore Airlines in 2003 to head the applications delivery group. She is responsible for the development of projects which support the business strategies of the SIA Group of companies and contribute towards productivity and efficiency improvements within the company.
Mr Alan LIM

Alan graduated from SMU with a double degree in Bachelor of Science (Information Systems Management) & Bachelor of Business Management (majoring in Marketing) with Summa Cum Laude (Highest Distinction) in Dec 2006. He had been placed on the Dean's list for 3 consecutive years from 2003 to 2005 and awarded the SMU Scholarship during his term of study.
Alan is currently working as an Analyst in Accenture Financial Service Operating Group. Now working on a banking project in Shanghai, his role is to work closely with the business users in Shanghai as well as other parts of China, including Guangzhou and Shenzhen in documenting the bank's

business process for the purpose of streamlining the existing business operations as well as implementing the new system for the bank.
About the Moderator
Practice Professor Steven MILLER

Practice Professor Steven Miller is the Founding Dean of the School of Information Systems, a position he has held since December 2002. Professor Miller is responsible for building a world-class faculty, staff and student body to establish the undergraduate, research and postgraduate programmes at SMU. Professor Miller started his professional career as a faculty at Carnegie Mellon University, which is also where he received a PhD in Engineering and Public Policy. His experience spans the worlds of academic research and global industry practice. He has held senior positions in technology, management and consulting with Fujitsu Ltd in both Japan and the US; RWD Technologies in the US; and IBM Global Services where he was Chief Architect Executive for Business Innovation Services, Asia Pacific. |
