Synopsis

Infocomm technology has helped transform many industries. Retailing, airlines, financial services, logistics amongst others have improved tremendously over the past few decades.

Healthcare industry has lagged behind other industries in using IT.

Mr. Liak Teng Lit will share his insights on the use of IT in healthcare and explore the approach a hospital is taking to maximise the benefits of IT in healthcare.

About the speaker

Mr. Liak is the CEO of Alexandra Hospital and has been promoting the use of IT within the hospital in many innovati ve ways. His distinguished career began  as a pharmacist position at the Singapore General Hospital .  He then went on to become the Director of Pharmacy at National University Hospital and the COO of Singapore General Hospital before assuming the position of CEO for Toa Payoh Hospital and Changi General Hospital.

Mr. Liak is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore and has won several awards including The Donald C. Brodie Education Award in 2000, Medal of Commendation at the NTUC May Day Award 2003 and The Commendation Medal  at the National Day Award 2003.

Mr. Liak gives his time generously to community and social service organizations such as Community Chest and National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre Board. He is also a member of the Singapore Tourism Promotion Board and Deputy Chairman of Skills Development Advisory Committee.
